Though originally born in Germany,
Trimpin resides in Seattle, Washington. He is a leader in sound
sculpture design, combining composition, kinetics and computer technology.
He has been performing and presenting work since 1984 and has exhibited
widely throughout Europe and the States, including appearances at the
Stedelijk Modern Art Museum (1986), at The Kitchen, New York (1992) and
the Wexner Centre for the Arts (1994). He has collaborated with the Merce
Cunningham Dance Company and was Artist-in-Residence in Giverny in the
Claude Monet garden in 1996. Trimpin's sculptures are a combination
of the latest technologies as well as natural elements such as water,
air and fire with these developed into challenging new modes. Both the
sculptural installations and audio aspects are interesting for the scale
and complexity of their constructions.
