Emerging since the last Sound Watch Festival in 1994, Relay aims to bridge the gap between the visual arts and music. The group includes amongst its collective, John Kennedy, Marc Chesterman, Tabatha Forbes, Greg Wood, Megan Vertelle, Leyton, Fiona Jack, Honor Harger, Mike Hodgson and has included works by Dean Roberts, Danny Butt, Phillip Dadson, John Ioane and many others. Previous Relay events have involved artists responding to a set theme. For instance The Minutes was an evening of sound performances each working within the duration of one minute, while for Dual Mono artists produced site specific sound installations. Other events have included: Transmission, As is, noise is, Dark and Same as Above where artists performed on location at the North Head Tunnels where their performances where broadcast live to air.
