Originally trained as an opera singer, Pamela Z is a San Francisco- based composer/performer and audio artist. She is best known for her work with voice, electronic processing and sampling technology. Recent work has incorporated the BodySynth which uses electrode MIDI switches placed on any part of the body which when used activates a brief text. Her performances arrive out of this approach yet also incorporate video to produce what is in effect a virtual performance. Pamela Z has performed in the States since 1984, primarily in San Francisco and New York, including the Bang on a Can festival at the Lincoln Centre. She produces a fortnightly programme for radio on experimental arts, and is a member of the ensemble The Qube Chix. Her work will involve collaborations with local artists.
